The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Edy. Firpo does a little dance to reset his feet.
Firpo looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Edy takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

It looks like Ed Edy has been cut.
Firpo tries a low kick but Edy avoids it.

Firpo lands with a hook. Edy tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Firpo is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Edy had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Edy uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Firpo has time to react.

Edy drops his hands momentarily and Firpo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Firpo takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Firpo has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Edy blocks a head kick by Firpo.
Edy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Firpo manages to avoid it.
Edy shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Firpo lands a jab to the nose.
Alvin Firpo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Firpo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Edy fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Firpo on the side of the head.
Firpo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Edy.
Firpo flicks out a counter leg kick but Edy steps away.
Firpo scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Edy ducks straight into an uppercut from Firpo and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Edy manages to regain guard straight away.

Edy is rocked!

Edy manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Oh Edy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Edy is breathing heavily.

Firpo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Firpo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Edy seems to have got his legs back now.
Firpo cracks Edy with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Firpo throws the kick towards the body but Edy avoids it.

Ed Edy's cut is getting worse.
Firpo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Edy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Firpo defending well as Edy loads up on a big left hand.

Edy swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Firpo.

Firpo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Edy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Firpo jabs Edy right on the nose. Edy blinks but takes it well.
Firpo connects with a right that clearly hurt Edy. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Firpo proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Edy collapses and taps out under the pressure!
