PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leopoldo Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Travis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Travis has chosen Shoot to thrill as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Travis fails with a takedown attempt.
Travis shoots in looking for a takedown. Ray tries to sprawl out of it but Travis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ray manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Travis closes the distance and clinches up with Ray, looking for a takedown. Travis pushes Ray against the cage but Ray circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Leopoldo Ray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Travis.
Travis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ray is fending him off so far but Travis persists. Nope, Ray circles away and we're back to standing.
Ray tries to counter by clinching up but Travis breaks away and moves out of range.

Ray has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ray tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Travis stops a takedown attempt from Ray.

Ray is trying to trip Travis. He has hold of a leg but Travis is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ray persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Travis is looking to stand back up but Ray counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Travis.

Ray is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ray continues to stall.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Travis wants to get back to his feet.
Still in half guard, Ray seems content to control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Ray moves in looking to clinch but Travis pushes him off.

and Ray counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ray.

Ray's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Travis tries to keep at a distance but Ray has taken the fight into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Ray's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Ray tries to pull guard but Travis forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Ray gets underhooks to prevent Travis's takedown attempt.

Ray manages to pull guard.
Travis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

We've been informed that Travis has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Ray is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Travis is aware though and is defending well.
Ray is trying to keep Travis in close.

Travis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Ray has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Travis doesn't defend quickly enough and Ray has managed to lock this one up! Can Travis escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ray on a fantastic submission victory.
