Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Great Gonzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Whipple (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Great Gonzo has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Whipple throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Gonzo counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Whipple displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Gonzo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Whipple connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gonzo. Gonzo circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Whipple tried to score with a low kick but Gonzo checks it.

It looked like Gonzo was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Whipple.
Gonzo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Whipple.
Gonzo throws a big counter combination but Whipple scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Whipple drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Whipple wants to control from the top but Gonzo keeps moving.

Whipple stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gonzo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gonzo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Whipple on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whipple is looking to work some ground and pound but Gonzo has wrist control.
Gonzo really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Whipple slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Whipple keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gonzo's head.
Whipple throws an elbow that misses. Gonzo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Whipple's guard. Nice move by Gonzo!

Whipple is looking to cinch up a triangle. Gonzo throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Whipple's body to avoid the submission. Whipple has instead reached around Gonzo's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Whipple arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

After the fight, Owen Whipple was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
