PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yong Bender (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johan Albertsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Albertsen has chosen Kaliber - Udebane as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Johan Albertsen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yong Bender!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Johan Albertsen!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bender misses with a wild combination.

Albertsen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bender manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Bender pushes Albertsen off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
A punch combination from Bender misses.

Bender has closed the distance and engaged Albertsen in a clinch.

Bender pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Bender rushes Albertsen and presses him up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Albertsen drags the fight down to the ground.
Bender postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bender trying to control the position from guard on top but Albertsen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Albertsen scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Yong Bender is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Albertsen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Bender tries to keep at a distance but Albertsen has taken the fight into the clinch.

Bender ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bender no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Bender keeping moving, preventing Albertsen from controlling successfully.
Albertsen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bender will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bender pulls Albertsen in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Albertsen passes Bender's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Albertsen wants to take a breather but Bender is having none of it.
Albertsen is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Albertsen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Albertsen is looking for a kimura but Bender is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Albertsen to get the leverage.

Bender knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Albertsen on the ground.

Bender tries to lock up and control but Albertsen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Albertsen moves to take his opponent's back.
Bender is really stuck here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bender moves in looking to clinch but Albertsen pushes him off.
Albertsen feints the counter takedown.
Albertsen lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Bender lands a head shot.

And Albertsen tries to counter it with a takedown but Bender pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Bender is looking to clinch but Albertsen is avoiding it.

Albertsen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bender's guard.

Bender has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Albertsen off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Albertsen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bender on his heels. He'll look to pass Bender's guard now, I'm sure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Albertsen scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Albertsen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Albertsen moves nicely into side control.

Albertsen lands a decent elbow from side control.
You can see the frustration on Bender's face as Albertsen controls the position.
Albertsen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bender keeps working.

Albertsen swings around for an armbar but Bender sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Albertsen's guard.

Albertsen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Albertsen advances to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Albertsen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bender keeps working.
Albertsen stalling.
Albertsen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bender has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Albertsen is working away from the top position though.

Albertsen passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bender!

Albertsen goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bender turns into him and now he's in Albertsen's guard.
Bender with a flurry of punches that miss.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Albertsen is on top in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johan Albertsen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


No joy there for Albertsen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bender pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Albertsen back to the cage. Bender follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Albertsen lands a nice hook to Bender's body. Bender takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Bender tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Albertsen paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Albertsen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Yong Bender is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Albertsen tries to bum rush Bender with a series of wild strikes but Bender uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bender tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Albertsen manages to circle out of the way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Albertsen turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Bender throws Albertsen to one side and escapes!

Bender closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Bender tries to pull guard but Albertsen holds him up against the cage and eventually Bender drops back down to his feet.

Johan Albertsen is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Bender tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Bender is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Bender is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Albertsen to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yong Bender. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bender changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Albertsen fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Bender really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Albertsen keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bender's efforts to push away.
Albertsen avoiding damage as Bender throws knees to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Yong Bender has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bender gets through Albertsen's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Johan Albertsen.
I've got Albertsen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
