PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamos Ramon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Thomas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Let the body's hit the floor. Jamos Ramon will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jamos Ramon!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Ramon throws a right and a left that Thomas avoids nicely.
Thomas works Ramon's body with a nice hook.
Thomas lands with an overhand left.
Thomas fails with an attempt to clinch.
Thomas stalks Ramon and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ramon's face. Ramon staggers backwards, shaken.
Ramon throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ramon lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Thomas misses with a kick to the body

and Ramon counters with a crisp one two that drops Thomas! Ramon thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Thomas to his feet! Thomas is in big trouble!

Thomas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ramon scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Thomas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Thomas has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

It seemed like Ramon was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Ramon lands with a straight right. Thomas didn't see that one coming.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ramon has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Thomas is looking to wear down Ramon with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

It looks like Michael Thomas has been cut.
Thomas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ramon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Thomas somewhat.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Thomas lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ramon has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ramon and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Ramon shoots for a double leg takedown but Thomas sprawls well. He's pushed Ramon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Thomas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ramon circles away quickly and effectively.

and Ramon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Thomas's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Ramon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Thomas napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Thomas is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ramon has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Thomas avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Ramon.

That was a close second round but I would say that Michael Thomas will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

A quick step to the side and Thomas tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Thomas feints a jab promting Ramon to slip. Thomas then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ramon slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ramon.

Ramon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thomas.
