Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Columbus Wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juha Mieto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Columbus Wells!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Juha Mieto!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mieto gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Wells jumps into guard, dragging Mieto to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Wells can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mieto controls the pace.
Wells is trying to control the position but Mieto postures up.
Wells wants to sweep here but Mieto controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wells is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wells pulls Mieto in to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
It looks like Mieto might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mieto is looking to take a break and control but Wells is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mieto decides to stand up, so the ref orders Wells to his feet.

Mieto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wells's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Wells feints and as Mieto raises his hands in defense, Wells changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mieto is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Wells dives into side control.

Mieto can't do much from the bottom here.
Mieto is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Wells is controlling him well.

Wells wants to take a breather but Mieto manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Wells.

As Mieto looks to move away, Wells throws a big counter combo but Mieto just gets out of the way.

Mieto changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wells looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Mieto content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Wells wants to control but Mieto is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Mieto wants to stand but Wells has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mieto moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mieto wants to get back to his feet but Wells is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Columbus Wells overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

I would just about give that final round to Juha Mieto.
