Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Grover Castaneda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Langston!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Langston gets a clinch.
Castaneda drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Langston breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Langston looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Castaneda!

Castaneda explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Langston throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Castaneda moves into range and clinches up with Langston.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Langston softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Castaneda tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Langston smiles and moves away.

Langston closes the distance and clinches.

Langston drags the fight down to the ground.
Castaneda wants to get up but he can't break Langston's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Langston wants to control the position but Castaneda says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Langston tries to roll over but Castaneda keeps him under control.

Castaneda stands up and beckons Langston to join him on the feet.

Langston kicks Castaneda off and gets to his feet.
Castaneda falls off balance throwing a combination

and Langston counters by clinching up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Castaneda can't break the clinch.
Castaneda tries to pull guard but Langston holds him up against the cage and eventually Castaneda drops back down to his feet.

Langston jumps into guard, dragging Castaneda to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Castaneda seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Langston wants to control but Castaneda is keeping busy.

Castaneda looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Castaneda seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Castaneda gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Castaneda dives in for a single leg takedown but Langston sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Castaneda shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Langston's guard.

Langston kicks Castaneda off and gets to his feet.
Langston fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Castaneda shoots in but Langston avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Langston dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Langston rushes Castaneda and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Langston fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Langston has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Langston fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Castaneda shoots in for a takedown but Langston shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Langston is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Langston shoots in but Castaneda avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Castaneda shoots in and gets a takedown into Langston's guard.

Langston has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Castaneda is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Castaneda jumps guard but Langston turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Castaneda jumps guard but Langston stands there with Castaneda around his waist. Castaneda gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Langston shoots for a takedown but Castaneda saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Castaneda stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Langston cracks Castaneda with a right hand to the side of the head.
Grover Castaneda is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Langston manages to break the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Castaneda fails with a takedown attempt.
Langston wants to counter the offense by Castaneda and move into the clinch position.

Castaneda went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Nice takedown defense from Langston. No joy for Castaneda on that attempt.

Langston shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Castaneda napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Castaneda is looking to reverse the position.
The referee asks Langston politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Langston prefers to stall for the moment though.
Langston tries to move into full mount but can't pass Castaneda's legs.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
