PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Furball (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Jones looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Furball!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Jones!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Furball closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Furball lands in his opponent's guard.
Furball wants to stand but Jones has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Furball stands and steps away. Jones gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jones gets caught napping as Furball dives in and scores a takedown. Jones manages to retain guard.
Furball stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jones keeping moving, preventing Furball from controlling successfully.

Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Furball avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Furball content to stall in guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones lands with a heel strike from the guard.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jones is working an open guard so Furball takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Furball sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Jones looks winded!
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Furball fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Furball persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Furball is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Furball landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Furball is trying to control. Jones wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Furball seems to be working for a kimura but Jones defends the submission attempt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Jones is defending against the submission attempts here by Furball.
Furball slips a nice elbow through Jones's hands, connecting with Jones's forehead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones taking some punishment here, with Furball in his half guard.
Furball is trying to control. Jones wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jones is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Furball scores with a couple of nice shots.
Furball moves into full mount! Jones won't be happy about that!
Furball is landing with some decent strikes but Jones is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Jones takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Jones wants to hold on but Furball pushes him away.

Furball working for a guillotine from mount but Jones is in no mood to give up.

Furball prevents Jones from getting the reversal.
Furball fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Furball scores with a couple of good head shots there.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jones told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Furball gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Jones has momentary wrist control but Furball slips an elbow through the middle.
Furball wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Furball dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Furball stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Furball wants it to stay on the feet.

Furball moves into the clinch.
Furball throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Furball is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Furball avoiding damage as Jones throws knees to the body.

Furball breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Furball clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage.
Jones takes an elbow to the temple.
A nice left hand lands by Furball.

Furball manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fred Furball overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Furball not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Furball working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Furball is tightening it up a little... Jones has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jones reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jones taps out! Nice BJJ there by Furball!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Fred Furball!
