The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meinhoff looks to throw a body kick
and Vettenranta counters with a shoot takedown. Meinhoff fights it but they end up in guard.
Vettenranta controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vettenranta postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Meinhoff trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Vettenranta postures up and lands a big shot to Meinhoff's brow.
Meinhoff really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vettenranta. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Meinhoff can do anything to dispel that myth.
