Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harold Shermann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shermann comes into the arena with Nirvana - Dumb blaring out of the sound system. Harold Shermann has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Harold Shermann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Drew Wood!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wood slaps away a takedown attempt from Shermann, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Wood shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Shermann is trying to defend but Wood finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

We've been hearing good reports from Shermann's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Wood closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shermann did well to prevent Wood getting side control.

Shermann manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Wood keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Shermann is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Wood can't fight it off and eventually Shermann manages to take the fight to the floor. Wood looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Shermann got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wood has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shermann has managed to get both his arms back between Wood's legs - danger averted.

Shermann slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Wood controls Shermann momentarily but Shermann frees himself.
Wood tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Shermann throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wood tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Shermann is in Wood's guard.

Shermann's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Wood tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shermann paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Wood stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wood wants it to stay on the feet.

Shermann makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
The fight stays on the outside here - Wood looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Wood fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shermann.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
