The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roode throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Johnson.
Johnson unleashes a big counter combination but Roode bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Roode displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson.
Roode went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
A jab from Roode misses.
Johnson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnson wants it to stay on the feet.
Johnson changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Roode is breathing heavily.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Roode sprawls well. Roode wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Johnson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dominic Roode has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Otavio Johnson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson stuffs the takedown.
And Johnson tries to counter it with a takedown but Roode pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Roode shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.

Johnson gets a double leg takedown into Roode's guard.
Johnson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Johnson slows the pace down.
Johnson has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Johnson wants to control the pace but Roode is squirming around nicely.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Johnson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Johnson controlling the pace for now.
Roode trying desperately to get to his feet.
Johnson controlling from the full mount.
Roode might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Johnson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Roode to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Roode shrugs it off.

Johnson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Roode is squirming around, avoiding Johnson's attempts to control the action.

Johnson working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Roode turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Johnson off and cradles Roode's limp body as Johnson celebrates with his corner.
