The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flynn tries to clinch there but Mc Steel circles away.
Flynn shoots for a double leg takedown but Mc Steel sprawls well. He's pushed Flynn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mc Steel throws out a counter right but Flynn avoids it with no problem.
Akheem Flynn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Flynn with that takedown attempt.
Mc Steel throws a jab when Flynn was well out of range.
Flynn attempts a counter takedown but Mc Steel avoids it well and moves away.
A jab from Mc Steel does it's job there.
Mc Steel throws a leg kick but Flynn moved away.
Flynn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mc Steel sprawls well. Mc Steel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Flynn gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akheem Flynn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mc Steel throws a shot from downtown. Flynn moves away and avoids it.
Mc Steel turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Flynn shoots for a takedown but Mc Steel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mc Steel throws a sloppy head kick and Flynn moves out of range easily.
Flynn shoots in for a double leg but Mc Steel sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Flynn takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Flynn goes for a double leg but Mc Steel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mc Steel continues to drive forward.
Mc Steel closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like Akheem Flynn has been cut.
Mc Steel's coach down at ICON TOP TEAM was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mc Steel's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mc Steel throws a right and a left that both miss.

Flynn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mc Steel can do anything to dispel that myth.
Flynn wants to control from the top but Mc Steel keeps moving.
Mc Steel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Flynn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mc Steel wants to stand and escape but Flynn is having none of it.

Flynn prevents Mc Steel from getting back to his feet.

Flynn is trying to get an arm triangle but Mc Steel is defending well.

Flynn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Flynn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Flynn working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Flynn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
