PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marty Van Buren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emil Pasanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Buren comes to the cage accompanied by Dead Souls. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Buren connects with a single shot there.
Van Buren walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Pasanen checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Van Buren pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Pasanen tries to keep at a distance but Van Buren has taken the fight into the clinch.

Van Buren's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Van Buren lands with a kick to the temple. Pasanen shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Van Buren throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Van Buren counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Van Buren throws a front kick aimed at Pasanen's knee but Pasanen avoids it well.

Van Buren throws a leg kick which misses Pasanen's front leg but catches the back leg as Pasanen tries to avoid it.

Pasanen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Van Buren manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Pasanen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Van Buren sees it coming and defends easily.
Pasanen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pasanen fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Van Buren is trying desperately to improve position.
Van Buren wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Pasanen.
Van Buren knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pasanen on the ground.

Van Buren is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Pasanen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Pasanen shoots in looking for a takedown. Van Buren tries to sprawl out of it but Pasanen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Van Buren manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Emil Pasanen's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
