Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Loquito Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adams closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gomez did well to prevent Adams getting side control.

Gomez has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Adams is on him like a limpet, forcing Gomez back against the cage.
Gomez manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Gomez gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Adams.

Gomez jumps into guard, dragging Adams to the mat.

Adams wants to control from the top but Gomez keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Adams stands up over Gomez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Adams has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gomez is proving hard to escape from.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Adams working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Adams can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gomez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Adams has managed to free his arm - good work.
Gomez wants to control but Adams is keeping him busy.
Adams tries to roll over but Gomez keeps him under control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gomez is thwarting Adams's attempts to control the position.

and Gomez counters with a series of strikes. Adams will be more careful next time no doubt.
Adams shoots in for a double leg but Gomez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Gomez moves into range and clinches up with Adams.
Adams drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gomez pulls his leg out and moves away.

Gomez throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

It looks like Samuel Adams has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gomez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Gomez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gomez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Adams wants to get back to his feet but Gomez is dominant here and he's now got Adams's back!

Gomez controlling the position well here. Adams rolled but Gomez kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Gomez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Gomez lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.

Gomez has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Adams has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Adams is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Gomez working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Adams is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Gomez has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Adams taps out!
