Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buck Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chong Wei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chong Wei has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Buck Grant's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buck Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Chong Wei!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wei manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Grant on his heels. He'll look to pass Grant's guard now, I'm sure.
Grant looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wei is one step ahead there.
Wei trying to control the position from guard on top but Grant is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Grant is controlling Wei's posture.
Wei trying to control but Grant is working from the bottom.
Grant might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wei looks winded!
Grant pulls Wei in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wei trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Grant looking for a sweep. Not yet Grant, not yet.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Wei missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wei stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Grant swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Grant drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wei is looking to stand up but Grant isn't so interested in that idea.
Wei being controlled here, momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wei working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Grant.
Grant slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Grant really is a fat lump.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Grant lands a couple of digs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wei swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Grant counters with a takedown into side control.
Grant taking a breather here.
Grant in side control, throwing shots but Wei defends.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Grant content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Wei holding on.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee asks Grant politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Grant prefers to stall for the moment though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Buck Grant dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Grant throws a head kick that misses.

Wei changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Grant looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Grant prevents Wei from improving position.

Wei thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Grant manages to work his way to half guard, despite Wei's best efforts.
Wei is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wei is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Grant keeps control of the position for the meantime.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grant wants to get back to his feet.
Grant is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Wei is looking to pass Grant's guard but actually Grant recovers to full guard.
We've been informed that Wei has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Grant seems keen to control Wei's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Grant throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Grant is looking to stand up but Wei isn't so interested in that idea.
Wei trying to move into half guard but instead Grant has managed to sweep!

Grant wants to control from the top but Wei keeps moving.
Buck Grant overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Grant controlling from the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wei looking to control.
Wei working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Grant.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Grant closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wei to the mat! Wei manages to get full guard.
Wei controls Grant momentarily but Grant frees himself.
Grant landing with the ground and pound.
Grant trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Grant slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Wei avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Buck Grant dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Grant darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Grant is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Wei is trying to stand up here but Grant is controlling him well.
Wei takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wei on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Grant is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wei can do to turn this around?

That's one minute gone in the round.

Grant is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wei has managed to free his arm - good work.
Grant slows the pace down in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Grant working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Wei throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Grant was covering up waiting for the punch and Wei finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Grant is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wei is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Grant is pulling down on Wei's head. It's preventing any offense from Wei, at least for the moment.
Grant keeping full guard, as Wei tries to pass.

Grant has his foot on Wei's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wei works his way back into a safe position though.
Wei won't allow Grant to get back to his feet.
Wei throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Grant is controlling Wei's posture.

Wei postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Grant is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wei, into his guard.

Grant prevents Wei from getting back to his feet.
Wei is trying to control the position but Grant postures up.

Buck Grant showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Grant has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
