PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Earnest Snider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naaru Oosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Earnest Snider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Naaru Oosh!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snider misses with a straight right.
Snider looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Oosh looks to land a combination but Snider avoids it well.
Snider half committed to a counter leg kick.

Oosh closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Snider to the mat! Snider manages to get full guard.
Snider managing to control the position.
Snider is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Oosh is controlling him.
Snider has control of Oosh's left arm, preventing Oosh from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snider keeping moving, preventing Oosh from controlling successfully.
Oosh trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Snider lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Snider stands up and waves to Oosh to follow him.
Oosh avoids the head kick by Snider.
Oosh pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Snider throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Oosh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Snider is in Oosh's guard.
Snider controls from within his opponent's guard.

Oosh working for a triangle but Snider defends it easily.

Snider gets to his feet - Oosh follows without any prompting.
Oosh closes the distance but Snider moves to the side

and Snider counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Snider.
Snider slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Snider is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Oosh has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Snider can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Snider stands and steps away. Oosh gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Snider throws a front kick aimed at Oosh's knee but Oosh avoids it well.

Oosh shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Snider's guard.

Snider is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Snider looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Oosh with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Snider seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Snider has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Oosh is looking to control Snider's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Oosh avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Snider takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Snider is working for a kimura but Oosh is defending it quite comfortably.
Snider looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Oosh with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Snider is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Snider is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Oosh is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Earnest Snider dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Oosh sizes up Snider with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.


It looks like Earnest Snider has been cut.
Naaru Oosh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Snider shoots in and bounces Oosh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Snider seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Snider drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Snider jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Oosh is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Snider drops back looking for a leg! Oosh is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oosh manages to kick Snider off! Snider jumps back into Oosh's guard.

Snider is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Earnest Snider overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Snider gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Snider gets caught napping as Oosh dives in and scores a takedown. Snider manages to retain guard.

Snider is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Oosh wants the takedown. Snider is fighting it off but Oosh persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Snider's guard against the cage.

Snider manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oosh looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A bit of stalling here from Snider.

Snider pulls Oosh in to control the position.
Snider lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Oosh wants to stand and escape but Snider is having none of it.
Oosh is trying to keep Snider in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Snider scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Snider controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Snider is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Snider is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Snider is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Oosh can do to turn this around?
Snider makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Snider stands up from Oosh's guard - Snider perhaps looking for a knockout.

Oosh manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Snider on his heels. He'll look to pass Snider's guard now, I'm sure.

Snider uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Oosh throws a shot to the body.
Snider circles away from the clinch attempt.
Snider misses with a low kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Snider enables Oosh to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Snider manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Earnest Snider dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Earnest Snider's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Oosh tries to clinch but Snider moves out of range.
Snider throws a counter high kick but Oosh was just alert enough to avoid it.
Snider swats away the attempt to clinch by Oosh.

Oosh closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Snider sneaks out the side door and pushes Oosh away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Oosh drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Snider throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Oosh tries to clinch but Snider is having none of it.

Oosh takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Snider is on top in guard.

Snider is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Oosh tries to get to full guard but Snider has control of the leg.

Snider's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Snider is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Oosh is looking to improve his position.

Snider stands up and beckons Oosh to join him on the feet.
Oosh closes the distance looking to clinch

and Snider counters with a takedown into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Earnest Snider showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Snider, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
