Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dominic Roode!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Otavio Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roode misses with a takedown attempt - Johnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Roode fails with the takedown.
Johnson wants to counter the offense by Roode and move into the clinch position.

Johnson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Roode to the ground. Johnson is now in Roode's guard.
Roode is breathing heavily.
Johnson trying to control but Roode is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Johnson advances position into side control!
Johnson throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Johnson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Roode's legs.

Johnson tries for a kimura but Roode is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson wants to control but Roode is keeping him busy.
Roode parries the strikes from Johnson easily there. Johnson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Roode to escape.
A lull in the action here.
Roode gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Roode might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Johnson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Johnson working for a submission but Roode is keeping him at bay.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Johnson has isolated one of Roode's arms. Roode looking to fight him off but Johnson twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
