The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nigouera swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and William counters with a left and a right that stings Nigouera.

Nigouera clinches up with William and pushes him back against the cage.

Nigouera escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
William takes a kick to the side of the head.

It looks like Shon William has been cut.

Nigouera rushes William and presses him up against the cage.

Nigouera breaks from the clinch.
Nigouera throws a low kick, looking for William's leg but William calmly moves out of range.
William is looking for a counter combo.
Nigouera is looking to clinch.
Nigouera swings and misses with a shot to the body
and William counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Nigouera instigates a clinch.
Nigouera misses with a punch on the inside.

Nigouera jumps guard.
William controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Nigouera manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Nigouera is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

William might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

William went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

and William counters with a left and a right that stings Nigouera.

William tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Nigouera manages to circle out of the way.

Nigouera closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. William did well to prevent Nigouera getting side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nigouera takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

William kicks off Nigouera and gets to his feet.
William lands a leg kick that knocks Nigouera off balance momentarily.

Nigouera rushes William and presses him up against the cage.

William has Nigouera pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. William pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nigouera tumbling to the mat - William dives into Nigouera's guard.

William fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nigouera to the ground. William is now in Nigouera's guard.

Nigouera pushes William off and scrambles back to his feet.

Nigouera decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on William, up you get!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As Nigouera tries to get set, William tries to push him back and clinch up but Nigouera manages to avoid the attempt.

William gets caught flat footed, as Nigouera shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rodrigo Nigouera has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nigouera slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Nigouera slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on William's face as Nigouera controls the position.
Nigouera passes to full mount! That's big trouble for William!

Nigouera's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
William really wants to buck Nigouera off and get back to his feet.

Nigouera has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nigouera content just to control the position here.
William's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Nigouera takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
William wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
