Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leo Jr De La Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Leo Jr De La Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Martin White!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De La Cruz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
De La Cruz advances nicely into full mount.
White throwing hammer fists to the chest of De La Cruz. What's that going to do exactly?
White is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
White slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

White is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but De La Cruz pulls his head out easily.
White tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
White is not content to let De La Cruz control the position.
De La Cruz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

White with the active half guard here but De La Cruz passes nicely into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White gets back to half guard.

De La Cruz decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
White looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
White shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White has a takedown stuffed.
De La Cruz appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

De La Cruz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

White has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, De La Cruz escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by De La Cruz!

The ground and pound from De La Cruz seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
De La Cruz decides to take the fight back to the feet.
White shoots for a takedown but De La Cruz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Leo Jr De La Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin White.
White shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says De La Cruz as he avoids it easily.

and De La Cruz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Martin White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De La Cruz tries a head kick but it misses.
This has been an exciting period of action!

De La Cruz moves into range and clinches up with White.

De La Cruz jumps guard.
White with a flurry of punches that miss.
De La Cruz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
De La Cruz doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
White postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
De La Cruz looking for a sweep. Not yet De La Cruz, not yet.

White thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
De La Cruz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
White with a flurry of punches that miss.

De La Cruz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
White working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

De La Cruz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and White defends well.

White thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
White is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

De La Cruz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
White lands a couple of decent looking shots.
White makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
White is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
White with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
De La Cruz tries to strike from the bottom.
White postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

White drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and White jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
White is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
White lands a couple of decent looking shots.

White is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
White is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leo Jr De La Cruz dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



De La Cruz closes the distance and clinches.

De La Cruz blocks a body shot from White.

De La Cruz lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
De La Cruz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
De La Cruz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that White can do to turn this around?
White is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of De La Cruz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take De La Cruz's back!

Leo Jr De La Cruz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

White looking to break De La Cruz's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. De La Cruz remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise White will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
You can see the frustration on De La Cruz's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
De La Cruz is trying to remain composed but White is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

White is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! De La Cruz is tapping out! This one is all over!
