PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hantu Rockamole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Gruff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rockamole comes to the cage accompanied by Shaggy-Boombastic. Gruff has chosen Shut Up - Stormzy as his entrance music. Hantu Rockamole has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rockamole gets the takedown into side control.
Gruff tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Rockamole has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Gruff looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gruff working to try and regain half guard.
Gruff wants to control but Rockamole is having none of it.
Gruff is looking to get to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rockamole working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Rockamole can't control as he wanted to and Gruff manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Rockamole is trying to control the action in half guard but Gruff is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rockamole throwing shots but Gruff is blocking nicely.
Rockamole is taking a breather. Gruff says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Gruff wants to get back to full guard.
Rockamole content to control rather than advance.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rockamole sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gruff defending well though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rockamole trying to control the action but Gruff is working from the bottom.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rockamole lands a nice short elbow.
Rockamole wants to take a breather but Gruff is having none of it.
Gruff desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Rockamole wants to control but Gruff is keeping him busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rockamole looks to throw the jab but Gruff is out of range.
Rockamole misses with a body kick.
Gruff throws out a counter right but Rockamole avoids it with no problem.
Gruff misses with a looping left.
Gruff is looking to clinch but Rockamole is avoiding it.
Gruff misses with a jab to the body
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Billy Gruff is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd cheers as Rockamole lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gruff doesn't seem phased though.
Gruff throws a poor cross that misses
and Rockamole counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gruff thinking.
Rockamole rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Gruff counters with a nice kick to the body.
Gruff steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Rockamole. That one must have hurt.
Gruff looks winded!

Rockamole feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gruff wants to get back to his feet but Rockamole passes into half guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rockamole connects with a nice short shot to Gruff's temple.
Gruff is staying active underneath Rockamole, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rockamole is looking for a kimura here.

Gruff pushes Rockamole off and gets back to his feet.
Rockamole tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gruff tries to grapple but his opponent circles
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and Rockamole counters with a nice uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hantu Rockamole dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Rockamole tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gruff avoids a kick to the body.
Rockamole throws an off balance right hand
and Gruff counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A big right from Rockamole misses.
Rockamole throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Gruff counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rockamole throws a leg kick but Gruff checks it.
Rockamole changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gruff tries to avoid it but Rockamole manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gruff to the ground. Gruff escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Rockamole cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gruff throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Rockamole throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Gruff counters with a crisp one two that drops Rockamole! Gruff thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Rockamole to his feet! Rockamole is in big trouble!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gruff uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rockamole.
Gruff only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Gruff throws a leg kick
and Rockamole counters with a slapping leg kick.
Rockamole throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
A countering left hand to the body from Gruff misses.
Rockamole throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gruff throws a lazy body kick
and Rockamole counters with a left to the body.
Gruff blocks a head kick by Rockamole.
Gruff missing with a left hand there. Rockamole was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Rockamole.
Rockamole scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Rockamole fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rockamole throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gruff stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Gruff has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rockamole finds it's way round the side to connect with Gruff's head.
Rockamole pounces like a tiger and cracks Gruff with a vicious hook! Gruff is down but not out! Rockamole follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Hantu Rockamole!
After winning the bout, Hantu Rockamole thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
