The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verhoeven looks to score with a jab to the body but Pony is just out of range.
Verhoeven seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Verhoeven swings widly with a right hand
and Pony counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Verhoeven missing with a left hand there. Pony was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Verhoeven misses with an uppercut

and Pony counters with a beautiful hook that drops Verhoeven to the mat! Will Verhoeven be able to recover his senses? The referee starts the count at 3 having sent Pony to a neutral corner. 4,5,6 and Verhoeven is up. He looks OK to continue.

It looks like Rico Verhoeven has been cut.
Verhoeven chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pony can pounce on him.
Pony has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Verhoeven is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Verhoeven ducks into a a hook from Pony and goes down! He looks in a bit of a mess; will he beat the count?! 4,5,6,7,8 - he's up and looking to carry on! The referee looks into his eyes and sees that he's OK to continue!
