Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between William McDougal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Loonie - Balewala. William McDougal could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mauricio Velasquez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, William McDougal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mauricio Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDougal darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Velasquez manages to escape and get back to his feet!
McDougal looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

McDougal throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Velasquez was covering up waiting for the punch and McDougal finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McDougal trying to control but Velasquez is working from the bottom.
McDougal is really struggling to control Velasquez but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Velasquez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
McDougal wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McDougal throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Velasquez counters by clinching up.

McDougal's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

McDougal fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Velasquez sprawls well initially but McDougal persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

McDougal wants to work for an arm triangle but Velasquez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Velasquez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McDougal is working away from the top position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McDougal not landing any meaningful shots this time.
McDougal thows a huge punch but Velasquez dodges it nicely.

Velasquez looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

McDougal is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Velasquez is looking to improve his position.

McDougal takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McDougal scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Velasquez trying to control from the bottom.

Velasquez is looking to improve his position.
McDougal seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Velasquez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDougal is working for a kimura but Velasquez is defending it quite comfortably.
Velasquez is trying to maintain the position but McDougal is very close to passing his half guard.

McDougal wants to control but Velasquez is keeping him busy.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

McDougal takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
McDougal wants to clinch up but Velasquez keeps it at a distance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Velasquez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

McDougal has one foot on Velasquez's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that William McDougal will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


McDougal tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Velasquez was well out of range. Poor timing from McDougal.
McDougal backing away here, and Velasquez unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Velasquez throws a series of strikes that have McDougal backpedaling.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Velasquez enables McDougal to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Velasquez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McDougal keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Velasquez's head.

Velasquez has an active guard here but McDougal has managed to pass into half guard.

McDougal wants to pass the guard but Velasquez is defending well.
Velasquez is staying active underneath McDougal, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Velasquez is looking for a sweep. McDougal is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

McDougal lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Velasquez controls McDougal momentarily but McDougal frees himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McDougal postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Velasquez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Velasquez is trying to keep McDougal in close.
McDougal trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Velasquez looking for a triangle here. McDougal is fighting it but it looks tight! Velasquez pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, McDougal is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Mauricio Velasquez!
Our winner, Mauricio Velasquez, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
