The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saaliste throws a body kick that misses.
Maximov cracks a nice hook into Saaliste's ribs.

Saaliste scores with a takedown into Maximov's guard.

Saaliste thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Saaliste stands up from Maximov's guard - Saaliste perhaps looking for a knockout.
Saaliste shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maximov but Maximov pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Maximov appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Maximov throws a shot to the body.
Maximov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Saaliste manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gleb Maximov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maximov scores with a jab to the jaw.
Saaliste tries for a takedown but Maximov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Maximov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Saalistes jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Saaliste tries a head kick but it misses.
Maximov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Saaliste stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Saaliste on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

A jab from Maximov finds it's way through Saaliste's defenses.
Maximov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Saaliste fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikko Saaliste. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Maximov throws a one two combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Maximov wants to clinch up but Saaliste keeps it at a distance.
Saaliste went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Saaliste looks for a takedown but Maximov sprawls well.
Maximov wants to counter the offense by Saaliste and move into the clinch position.
Saaliste uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Maximov.
Maximov fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Saaliste is breathing heavily.
Saaliste gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Saaliste fails to land the takedown.
A little jabbing left from Maximov on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Saaliste pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Maximov bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Saaliste's head backwards.
Maximov lands a body shot.
Saaliste shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Maximov as he jumps to the side.

Maximov throws a combination that misses

and Saaliste counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Saaliste.

Saaliste pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Saaliste is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Maximov.
Maximov feints a jab promting Saaliste to slip. Maximov then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Saaliste slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
A jab from Maximov does it's job there.

Saaliste is rocked!
Maximov cracks Saaliste on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Saaliste falls backwards against the cage. Maximov follows up with more strikes that drop Saaliste to his knees. Maximov keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Saaliste! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gleb Maximov!
