Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Blood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Blood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronald Griffin!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jorge Garcia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Blood is defended easily by Griffin.
Griffin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Blood looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Griffin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Griffin works over Blood's head and body with a nice combination.
Griffin misses with the combination.
Griffin looks to land a left hand but Blood moved out of range nicely.
Blood fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Blood pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Griffin connects with a right hand. Blood shakes it off.
Griffin throws a push kick but Blood slaps the foot to one side.
A little feinted left hand from Blood on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Griffin moves out of range as Blood strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Griffin misses with the combination.
Griffin tries to bum rush Blood with a series of wild strikes but Blood uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Blood bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Griffin tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Even with his hooks in, Blood manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Griffin defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Blood's arms.
I really don't envy Griffin right now.

Blood looking to break Griffin's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Griffin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Blood will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffin rolls, trying to escape but Blood keeps control of the position.
Griffin covering up well and avoiding damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Griffin grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Griffin takes a big shot to the side of the head.

Griffin is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
Griffin takes one on the button.
Griffin scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Griffin tries a head kick but it misses.
Griffin misses with a low kick.
Blood swinging wildly here.
Griffin tries to bum rush Blood with a series of wild strikes but Blood uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Griffin throws a right hand that Blood ducks under and follows up with a left that Blood also avoids with ease.
Griffin looks to land a combination but Blood avoids it well.

Blood shoots in and bounces Griffin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Blood pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Griffin is keeping the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Griffin looking to control.
Griffin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Blood trying to control but Griffin is working from the bottom.
Griffin trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Blood content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Blood preventing the sweep.

Griffin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Blood is aware though and is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Blood postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Blood working some strikes from top position.
Blood wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving.
Griffin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Blood slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Griffin is looking for a triangle but Blood pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ronald Griffin will probably get the nod.
That's time! Blood's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Blood throws a body punch but Griffin moves out of range.
Griffin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Blood throws a lazy head kick

and Griffin counters with a takedown into side control.

Griffin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Griffin trying to control the position but Blood is working away.
Blood is looking to reverse the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee asks Griffin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Griffin prefers to stall for the moment though.
Blood struggling a bit here.
Griffin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Griffin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blood is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Blood tries to bench press Griffin off him but Griffin keeps the position.
Griffin wants to control but Blood is keeping him busy.
Blood can't do much from the bottom here.

Blood is rocked!

Griffin is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Blood is trying to escape and Griffin transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Blood is forced to tap! Nice work there by Griffin! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ronald Griffin!
In defeat, Aaron Blood stepped up to the mic, saying 'Jacob Whitehorse was too much for me tonight. The better game plan won tonight. I will wear this belt again, mark my words!'.
