PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Bisping (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes into the arena with National Anthem blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Anderson Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Bisping!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bisping tries to bum rush Diaz with a series of wild strikes but Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bisping throws a series of punches but Diaz avoids them all with ease.
Bisping throws a nice looking combination but Diaz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bisping is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Bisping circles away and we're back to standing.
Diaz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bisping tries to avoid it but Diaz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bisping to the ground. Bisping escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bisping throws a series of punches but Diaz avoids them all with ease.

Diaz walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Diaz closes the distance and clinches up with Bisping, looking for a takedown. Diaz pushes Bisping against the ropes but Bisping circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bisping plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Bisping breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bisping rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - Bisping sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bisping lands with a nice combination. Diaz backs away looking to recover.

Diaz is rocked!
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Diaz. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Diaz throws a wild body kick that Bisping sees coming a mile off.
Bisping smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Oh Diaz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Diaz takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Diaz seems to have got his legs back now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bisping moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Bisping. That snapped Diaz's head back.
Bisping throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Some wild striking there from Bisping.
Bisping throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bisping slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bisping won't be happy with that.
Bisping can't do much from the bottom here.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Diaz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bisping has escaped the position, nice work there.

Diaz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Diaz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bisping is looking to reverse the position.

Diaz tries for a kimura but Bisping is defending well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bisping is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bisping moves into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bisping is on top in guard.

Diaz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bisping is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Diaz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bisping's back instead.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Bisping trying to get back to his feet but Diaz is in full control for now.

Diaz is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bisping defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diaz doesn't have the hooks in and Bisping manages to turn into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Diaz shoots in and drives through. Bisping sprawls well.

Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown. Bisping tries to sprawl out of it but Diaz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Bisping manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Diaz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bisping tries to avoid it but Diaz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bisping to the ground. Bisping escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bisping stalks Diaz and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Diaz's face. Diaz staggers backwards, shaken.
Bisping lands with a nice combination. Diaz backs away looking to recover.
Bisping closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Michael Bisping seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Diaz fails with the takedown.
Bisping lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Diaz backs up against the ropes.
Bisping cracks Diaz with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Diaz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Michael Bisping is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Diaz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Diaz lands in his opponent's guard.

Diaz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bisping is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Diaz, into his guard.

Bisping is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Diaz has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Diaz!

Diaz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bisping swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bisping manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Diaz is in all sorts of trouble here.

Michael Bisping showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Diaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bisping pinned against the cage. Bisping gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bisping holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Diaz is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Bisping is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Anderson Diaz!
