PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Blaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duke Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bombs Away by Whole Wheat Bread. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Scott Blaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Duke Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blaker slips a jab and a cross from Nelson.
Blaker lands a slapping body shot.
Blaker misses with a wild body shot.
Blaker throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Nelson on the side of the head.
Blaker lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Duke Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nelson lands a nice hook to Blaker's body. Blaker takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Blaker uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nelson.
Nelson lands with a nice combination. Blaker backs away looking to recover.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nelson misses with a wild body shot.
Blaker was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Blaker takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Blaker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Blaker tries to bum rush Nelson with a series of wild strikes but Nelson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Blaker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nelson moves away.
A left lands for Nelson.


It looks like Scott Blaker has been cut.
Nelson throws out a loose jab but Blaker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Blaker takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big right from Nelson misses.
Blaker is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Nelson digs a good body shot into Blaker's ribs.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nelson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Nelson throws a body punch but Blaker moves out of range.
Blaker was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
A left lands for Nelson.
Blaker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nelson with a nice cross.
Nelson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Blaker doesn't seem bothered though.
Nelson catches Blaker with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Nelson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nelson cracks Blaker with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Nelson lands with a good body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nelson lands with an uppercut that bounces Blaker off the cage and back into range.
Nelson swings for the body but Blaker moves out of range.
Nelson lands a right hook to the body.
Blaker is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nelson misses with a body shot.
Nelson connects with a body shot that sends Blaker's belly button to the back.
Nelson stuns Blaker with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Nelson throws an overhand right that drops Blaker like a sack of potatoes! Nelson dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Duke Nelson!
A very excited looking Duke Nelson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
