The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voeller connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.


It looks like Sean Cox has been cut.
Voeller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Voeller pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Voeller throws a head kick but Cox moves out of range.

Voeller closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Voeller throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Voeller wants to pass the guard but Cox is defending well.

Voeller is looking for a kimura but Cox is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Voeller to get the leverage.
Voeller thows a huge punch but Cox dodges it nicely.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Cox looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Cox is looking for a sweep. Voeller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Voeller is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Voeller pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Voeller throws a head kick that Cox semi-blocks.

Cox fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Voeller sprawls well initially but Cox persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Cox looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Voeller misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Cox drops back looking for a leg! Voeller is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Voeller manages to kick Cox off! Cox jumps back into Voeller's guard.

Voeller has his foot on Cox's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cox works his way back into a safe position though.

Voeller has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cox can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
