Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Patricia Preston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yaroslav Deda!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preston fails in his attempt to clinch.

Deda closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Preston's guard.

Deda slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Preston bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Deda's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Deda will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Deda pulls Preston in close to his closed guard and prevents Preston from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Preston gets caught flat footed, as Deda shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Deda must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Preston wants to stand but Deda is controlling the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Preston makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Deda is breathing heavily.

Preston pushes Deda up against the cage in a clinch.
Preston is stalling here.

Deda jumps into guard, dragging Preston to the mat.
Deda is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Preston decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Deda, up you get!

Deda closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Preston quickly recovers to half guard.
Deda is thwarting Preston's attempts to control the position.
Preston keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Preston trying to hold on to Deda's head to control him but Deda postures up.
Deda looks to land a strike but Preston avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Preston is trying to keep Deda in close.
Deda throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Preston works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Deda wants to pass the guard but Preston is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Deda displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Preston.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Preston manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Deda keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Yaroslav Deda will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Preston fails to land the takedown.

Deda closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Preston to the mat! Preston manages to get full guard.

Preston pushes Deda off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Preston moves in looking to clinch but Deda pushes him off.
Deda feints the counter takedown.

Preston gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Deda to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Deda wants to stand and escape but instead Preston has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Deda is working an open guard so Preston takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Deda dives in and scores a takedown into Preston's guard.

Preston manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Deda lands a hook to the side of the head.
Preston is looking to take this one to the mat.

Deda breaks from the clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Preston or perhaps it was just good defense by Deda, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patricia Preston. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Deda clinches with his opponent.

Preston is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Deda is defending well.

Deda successfully pulls guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Deda is controlling Preston's posture.

Preston stands and steps away. Deda gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Deda is controlling the pace.
Deda is keen to just control but Preston is a slippery customer.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Preston keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Preston makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Preston.
Preston is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Preston is trying to hold Deda in close to prevent damage but Deda has managed to pass into half guard.
Patricia Preston has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Yaroslav Deda is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Preston is looking for a sweep. Deda is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Patricia Preston.
I think Deda has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
