Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rufus Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rufus Warner has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rufus Warner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jason Myers!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Myers tries to clinch but Warner is having none of it.
Warner shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Myers defends it nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Myers as Warner shoots in.

Myers closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Warner's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Warner is pulling down on Myers's head to control his posture.

Myers decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Warner tries for a takedown but Myers sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

It looked like Warner was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Myers wriggles free and stands up.

Myers rushes Warner and presses him up against the cage.
Warner is trying to pull guard but Myers has him pressed against the cage.
Myers lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Warner manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Warner manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Warner drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Warner jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Warner wants to stand but Myers has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Myers is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Myers working for a triangle but Warner defends it easily.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Warner is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Myers has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Warner off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Warner moves into range and clinches up with Myers.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Warner darts in and clinches Myers up against the cage.
Warner is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Myers to keep the fight standing.
Warner jumps guard but Myers stands there with Warner around his waist. Warner gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Myers gets to his feet. Warner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Myers tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Warner paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Warner shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Myers as he jumps to the side.
Warner shoots in looking for a takedown but Myers manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Warner's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Myers steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Warner.
Myers throws a series of punches but Warner avoids them all with ease.

Myers fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Warner to the ground. Myers is now in Warner's guard.
Warner is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Myers lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Warner controls Myers momentarily but Myers frees himself.
Warner wants to sweep here but Myers controlling him for the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Myers tries to stand but Warner is controlling from the bottom.
Warner is controlling Myers's posture.
Myers prevents Warner from getting back to his feet.

Myers throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Warner works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Myers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Myers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Myers wants to control from the top but Warner keeps moving.
Warner lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Warner.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rufus Warner.
Well Myers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
