PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Slim Pickens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kimura darts in and clinches Pickens up against the cage.
Pickens managing to block the knees to the body from Kimura.
Pickens on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Pickens misses with a short punch on the inside.

Pickens has a couple of punches blocked by Kimura.
Kimura blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Kimura has Pickens pushed against the cage.
Pickens tries a body shot but Kimura blocks it.

Pickens swings wildly with an uppercut but Kimura uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kimura blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Kimura gets control of Pickens's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kimura will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Kimura throws his legs up looking for a submission but Pickens uses it to pass to side control.

Pickens knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kimura on the ground.
Kimura is staying active underneath Pickens, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Kimura is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pickens pulls his head out easily.
Kimura has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
