Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Harry Greb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Williams is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harry Greb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Williams!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Greb throws a left and a right that both miss

and Williams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Greb's guard.
Greb is wriggling around but Williams manages to pass to half guard.
Greb is trying to stand.
Greb knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Williams on the ground.

Williams escapes and gets back to his feet.
Greb lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Greb misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Greb misses with a jab, cross combination.
Williams changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Greb moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Williams shoots in and drives through. Greb sprawls well.

and Williams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Greb's guard.
Williams is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Williams might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Williams is pushing down on Greb's leg trying to pass to half guard. Greb is fighting to maintain full guard but Williams has managed to sneak the leg through.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Williams goes for an armbar but Greb turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Greb.

Williams has his feet on Greb's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

and Greb counters with a three punch combo that has Williams backing up. Williams nods at Greb to acknowledge the strikes.

Greb connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Williams has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Greb tries a head kick but it misses.
Williams dives in and grabs Greb's left leg, looking for a takedown. Greb pushes down on Williams's head and hops out.
Harry Greb has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Williams.
Greb connects with a looping right hand.
Nice body punch from Greb.
Greb stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Greb goes for a double leg but Williams avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Williams continues to drive forward.
Williams seems to have recovered his senses.
Greb tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Williams swivels and escapes.
Greb lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Williams circles away quickly and effectively.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Sloppy strikes from Greb. Those never looked like landing.
Williams dives in for a single leg takedown but Greb sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Williams takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Greb is looking to escape.

Williams stands up and beckons Greb to join him on the feet.
Greb pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Williams back to the cage. Greb follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Greb feints a jab promting Williams to slip. Greb then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Williams slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Greb is looking to slow Williams down with leg kicks.
Greb throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but Greb shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Greb is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Williams can do to turn this around?

Williams tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Greb lands a nice shot that snaps Williams's head back.
Greb rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Williams moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Greb fakes the leg kick and cracks Williams in the body.

Williams shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Greb napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Frank Williams has got the better of the ground game so far.
Williams is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Greb will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Williams slows the pace down in half guard.
Williams wants to pass the guard but Greb is defending well.

Williams content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The adventures of Williams the control monster continue. Boring.

Williams is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Greb sees it coming and defends easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Greb throws a series of punches but Williams avoids them all with ease.

Greb seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Harry Greb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters circle momentarily. Greb darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Harry Greb is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Greb is trying to get back to his feet but Williams has full control of the position and if anything, Greb has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Greb, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
