Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between CJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Josh Pettis!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Penn swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Josh Pettis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn connects with a body shot.
Pettis throws a push kick but Penn slaps the foot to one side.
Pettis uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Penn.
Pettis tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Pettis darts in trying to clinch
and Pettis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Penn pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pettis.
Pettis throws a body kick that misses
and Penn counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Pettis tries to clinch up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice defenses there by Pettis.
Pettis throws a predictable looking body shot
and Penn counters with a nice uppercut.
Pettis with a poor takedown
enabling Penn to counter with a crisp jab.
Pettis throws an off balance right hand
and Penn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


Pettis is rocked!
BAM! Penn delivers a spinning backfist that drops Pettis like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
