PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Sarulo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hughe Jagmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jagmann has chosen Metallica Fuel as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sergio Sarulo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hughe Jagmann!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Jagmann does no damage.
Sarulo cracks Jagmann with a right hand to the side of the head.
Jagmann looks to throw the jab but Sarulo is out of range.
Sarulo ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Jagmann throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sarulo misses the body punch
and Jagmann connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Sarulo misses with the combination.
Jagmann is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sarulo.
Jagmann jabs at Sarulo's body.
Jagmann misses with a double jab.
Sarulo throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sarulo on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Jagmann tries to bum rush Sarulo with a series of wild strikes but Sarulo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Sarulo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jagmann slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Jagmann looks to land a combination. Sarulo sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Sarulo ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Jagmann bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sarulo's head backwards.
Jagmann will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jagmann takes one to the side of the head.
Sarulo throws a combination. Jagmann tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Jagmann avoids the body shot from Sarulo.
Sarulo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Sarulo scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nice takedown defense from Sarulo. No joy for Jagmann on that attempt.
Sarulo lands a body shot.
Sarulo stalks Jagmann and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jagmann's face. Jagmann staggers backwards, shaken.
Sarulo feints a jab promting Jagmann to slip. Sarulo then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jagmann slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Sarulo misses the shot to the body.

Jagmann has Sarulo up against the cage in a clinch.
Jagmann swings wildly with an uppercut but Sarulo uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sarulo looking to stall.
Sarulo jumps guard but Jagmann stands there with Sarulo around his waist. Sarulo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Sarulo.
Sarulo prevents Jagmann from breaking the clinch.
Jagmann wants to break free but Sarulo has control.
Jagmann dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Jagmann misses with a punch on the inside.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sarulo lands an elbow that stopped Jagmann in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Hughe Jagmann has been cut.
Jagmann prevents a body shot from Sarulo.
Jagmann misses with a punch to the body.
Jagmann pushes Sarulo back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Sarulo prevents a body shot from Jagmann.
Jagmann has had enough of the clinch but Sarulo keeps him there for the moment.
Sarulo keeps control of Jagmann as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jagmann manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Sarulo has been working on his balance at Die Trying Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Jagmann.
Sarulo tries to pull guard but Jagmann forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Jagmann is trying to push Sarulo away but Sarulo has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Jagmann lands a nice uppercut.
Sarulo has Jagmann pressed against the cage, preventing Jagmann from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Jagmann scores with a shoulder strike.
Jagmann lands with a right to the head.


Sarulo is rocked!

Jagmann breaks from the clinch.
Oh Sarulo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sarulo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Jagmann counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Sarulo is looking to wear down Jagmann with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Jagmann shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sarulo as he avoids it easily.
Sarulo cracks Jagmann with an open hand slap.
Jagmann feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Sarulo crashing to the mat! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Hughe Jagmann!
A less than humble Hughe Jagmann misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
