Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Drew Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshiuki Yoshida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshida is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Tokydrift tune. Drew Smith has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Smith looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Yoshida gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Yoshida is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Smith pulls his head out easily.

so Smith counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Yoshida has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.

Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

and Smith counters with a series of strikes. Yoshida will be more careful next time no doubt.

Yoshida is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Smith gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Drew Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshiuki Yoshida.
Smith manages to break the clinch.

Yoshida manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Smith is pressing down on Yoshida's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Yoshida is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Smith off and has taken his back!
Smith just trying to survive but Yoshida is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
You can see the frustration on Smith's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Yoshida sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Smith taps out!
