PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Riddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ninja Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kid is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Stratovarius - Hunting High and Low. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Riddell. No joy for Kid on that attempt.
Kid shoots for a takedown but Riddell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mike Riddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ninja Kid.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kid.
Riddell misses with a head kick.
Kid changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Riddell tries to avoid it but Kid manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Riddell to the ground. Riddell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kid shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kid was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kid trying to control but Riddell is having none of it.

Kid swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Riddell is now in Kid's guard. A big mistake from Kid there, giving up the dominant position!

Riddell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kid is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kid isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Riddell stacks Kid on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Riddell!

Riddell decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Riddell.
Kid takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Kid looks gassed!
Kid avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Riddell throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Kid.

It looks like Ninja Kid has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Riddell lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Riddell tries a low kick but Kid avoids it.
Kid misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Riddell rushes Kid and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kid drops down looking for an ankle pick but Riddell pulls his leg out and moves away.
Riddell tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Riddell tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Riddell lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kid's sensitive parts.
Kid closes the distance and clinches up with Riddell, looking for a takedown. Kid pushes Riddell against the cage but Riddell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Riddell does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kid will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kid fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Kid gets caught flat footed, as Riddell shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Riddell passes Kid's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kid is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Still in half guard, Riddell seems content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kid is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Riddell's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Riddell's back!

Kid is working for a rear naked choke. Riddell is not defending it well and Kid has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Riddell refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Riddell's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ninja Kid!
Ninja Kid is the new welterweight champion!
