Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ken Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Coyote Cojo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ken Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Coyote Cojo!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cojo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cojo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cojo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Black scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Cojo takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cojo can do anything to dispel that myth.
Black throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Black wants to control for a moment but Cojo uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Black has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Coyote Cojo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Black shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cojo as he avoids it easily.

Cojo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Black.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Black shoots in for a takedown but Cojo shows good takedown defense.
No luck for Black with that takedown attempt.

Cojo parries the strikes from Black easily there. Black is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Cojo to escape.
Black misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Cojo bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Black's head backwards.
Black shoots in and drives through. Cojo sprawls well.
Cojo stuffs the takedown.
Black slips a jab and a cross from Cojo.
Cojo throws a hook to the side of Black's head but Black sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Black avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Black shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Black was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Black wants to control the pace but Cojo is squirming around nicely.
Black is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Cojo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cojo is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Cojo somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

Black is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Black working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Black wants to control from the top but Cojo keeps moving.
Black would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Black postures up in Cojo's guard and throws a big left but Cojo blocks it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Black looking to sit in guard and control but Cojo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Black tries to land a sweep but no joy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Cojo throws a right hand that Black ducks under and follows up with a left that Black also avoids with ease.
Black shoots in but no luck this time.

Black won't let Cojo get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Ken Black is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Black, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
