PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Max Beltran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fitz Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Beltran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Fitz Hall!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beltran is looking to clinch but Hall is avoiding it.

Beltran closes the distance and clinches.
Beltran prevents Hall from breaking the clinch.
Hall wants to break free but Beltran has control.
Beltran digs a right hand into Hall's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Hall's gas tank.
Hall on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Beltran.
Beltran pressing his opponent against the cage.
Beltran throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Halls head.

Beltran breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hall scores with a crisp jab that stopped Beltran in his tracks.

Fitz Hall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beltran tries to clinch but Hall moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beltran shoots in but Hall avoids the takedown attempt easily.

We've been hearing reports that Beltran has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Hall throws a leg kick but Beltran sees it coming and moves out of range.

Beltran throws a punch but it's blocked by Hall.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Beltran takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Beltran is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hall tries to roll over but Beltran keeps him under control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beltran. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hall pushes Beltran off looking to stand but Beltran dives back in and keeps control.

Beltran wants to work for an arm triangle but Hall is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hall has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beltran is working away from the top position though.
Beltran has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hall throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Beltran gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Hall lands with an uppercut that bounces Beltran off the cage and back into range.

Hall shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Beltran eats them both and turns towards Hall to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

and Beltran counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Hall takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Fitz Hall has been cut.
Beltran moves in looking to clinch but Hall pushes him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Max Beltran will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Beltran closes the distance and clinches up with Hall, looking for a takedown. Beltran pushes Hall against the cage but Hall circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Beltran manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hall on his heels. He'll look to pass Hall's guard now, I'm sure.
Hall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close second round but I would say that Max Beltran will probably get the nod.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Beltran postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Max Beltran.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Beltran, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
