Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Rude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vien Chi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rude comes into the arena with Gunslinger blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Dominic Rude!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vien Chi!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chi is looking to clinch but Rude is avoiding it.
Rude cracks Chi with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


It looks like Vien Chi has been cut.
Chi fails with an attempt to clinch.
Chi throws a head kick that misses
and Chi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Chi takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Chi tries to clinch up but Rude circles away and keeps his distance.
Rude appears to be looking for a big counter.
Chi tries to clinch up

and Rude counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Rude postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Chi to stand up.
Chi tries to clinch up
and Rude counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chi misses with a wild body shot.
Chi tries to clinch but Rude is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chi misses with a combination

and Rude counters with a single leg into guard. Chi didn't expect that.

Chi is working an open guard so Rude takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Chi tries to close the distance and clinch but Rude swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rude swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Rude avoids the head kick by Chi.
Rude tries to counter with a takedown but Chi is quick to defend against it.
Chi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rude manages to avoid it.
Chi tries to clinch

and Rude counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Chi!

Rude stands up.
Rude lands an overhand right.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Chi looks to clinch

and Rude decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chi's guard.
Rude sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Chi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rude is controlling him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rude stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Chi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rude swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Rude circles away from the clinch attempt
enabling Rude to counter with a crisp jab.
A head kick by Chi misses

and Rude counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rude.

Chi landing knees to the head.

Rude escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Rude moves into the clinch.
Chi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Chi looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rude lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Rude pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Chi looks to clinch
and Rude cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Rude clinches up with Chi and pushes him back against the cage.
Rude cracks Chi with a nice body shot.
Chi looks winded!

Rude's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rude circles away from the clinch attempt
and Rude makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rude throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


That has opened up Vien Chi's cut even more.
Chi tries to land a body kick

so Rude counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rude thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Chi looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Rude gets to his feet - Chi follows without any prompting.
Rude lands with a cross.
Chi looks to land a combination but Rude avoids it well.
Chi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rude paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Rude shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rude showed some decent athleticism there.

Rude stands up and beckons Chi to join him on the feet.
Rude throws out a powerful jab.
Rude is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chi tries to clinch but Rude is having none of it.
Chi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rude is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Rude scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dominic Rude dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Vien Chi's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rude throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Chi tries to clinch but Rude moves out of range.
Chi throws an off balance right hand

and Rude holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rude lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Chi backwards.

Rude manages to break the clinch.
Chi throws a head kick but Rude moves out of range.
Chi wants to clinch

and Rude decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chi's guard.


Chi is rocked!
Rude postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Chi is still in real trouble! Can Rude finish him?

Rude decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Rude avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chi seems to have recovered his senses.
Chi throws a body kick that misses

and Rude counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Chi tries to kick Rude off in order to stand up. Rude Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rude. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rude has an Americana. Chi didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Rude is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Rude hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Dominic Rude!
A relieved looking Dominic Rude thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
The defeated Vien Chi had this to say: 'I'll be back'.
