Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Arjen Franck Robbery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Yaj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yaj is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Hey mr. DJ. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leo Yaj!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nice straight punches there by Yaj. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Yaj.


It looks like Arjen Franck Robbery has been cut.

It looked like Robbery wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Yaj feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Robberys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Yaj counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yaj shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Robbery catches Yaj with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Robbery throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee asks Yaj politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Yaj prefers to stall for the moment though.

Yaj has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Robbery is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

That was a close round but I would say that Arjen Franck Robbery will probably get the nod.

Robbery looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yaj is fending him off so far but Robbery persists. Nope, Yaj circles away and we're back to standing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Robbery in particular looking to stall.

Robbery will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Robbery throws a shot to the body.
Robbery keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Yaj gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Robbery to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Robbery wants to pass the guard but Yaj is keeping the position.
Robbery controls from within his opponent's guard.
Yaj seems keen to control Robbery's posture.

Robbery content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Yaj has locked up a guillotine! Yaj's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Robbery is holding on here and Yaj must be using up a lot of energy. Robbery has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Yaj gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
