PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Rydell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roger Rydell will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eduardo Batista!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roger Rydell!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rydell moves into the clinch.
Batista is looking for a takedown.

Rydell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Batista keeps working.

Batista is looking for a sweep. Rydell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rydell thows a huge punch but Batista dodges it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Batista is staying active underneath Rydell, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rydell is keen to just control but Batista is a slippery customer.

Batista looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rydell doesn't manage to clinch there - Batista circles away.

Batista has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rydell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rydell gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Rydell wants to clinch up but Batista keeps it at a distance.
Batista changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rydell tries to avoid it but Batista manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rydell to the ground. Rydell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eduardo Batista. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Batista is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rydell.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Batista is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rydell is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rydell has escaped and now he's on top!

Rydell is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Batista to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Batista shrugs it off.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Rydell. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Batista tightens his grip and picks Rydell up, before dumping him to the ground. Rydell manages to land in guard.

Roger Rydell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Roger Rydell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rydell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
