PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cadogan Seren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robbie Collins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seren comes into the arena with Fever Ray - Keep The Streets Empty For Me blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cadogan Seren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robbie Collins!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Collins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Seren fails with the takedown.
Collins avoids a punch combination nicely.
Seren misses with a two punch combination.
Collins lands a body shot.
Nice sprawl there from Collins as Seren shoots in.
Collins has a takedown stuffed.
Collins wants to clinch but Seren slips to the side

and Seren decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Collins's guard.
Collins has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Seren slips nicely into half guard.
Collins flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Seren tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Collins.

Collins is looking to improve his position.
Seren frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Collins wants to hold on but Seren pushes him away.
Collins really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Seren controlling his opponent.

Seren swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Collins is now in Seren's guard. A big mistake from Seren there, giving up the dominant position!
Seren is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Collins looking to pass the guard.
Collins throws a big right hand that misses.
Collins trying to control the position from guard on top but Seren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Seren wants to sweep but no luck.
Seren bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Collins's guard.
Seren tries to free his leg and advance position but Collins is retaining full guard.
Seren is looking to work some ground and pound but Collins has wrist control.
Seren wants to control from the top but Collins keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Seren postures up in Collins's guard and throws a big left but Collins blocks it.
Seren wants to stand but Collins has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Seren will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Seren's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Seren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Collins swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Seren darts in trying to clinch
and Collins counters with a three punch combo that has Seren backing up. Seren nods at Collins to acknowledge the strikes.
Cadogan Seren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Collins moves into the clinch successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cadogan Seren dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Seren scores with a nice head shot.
Seren clinches but Collins breaks the clinch

and Collins counters by clinching up.
Collins tries to throw a body punch but Seren avoids it by throwing Collins back against the cage.
Collins lands an elbow that stopped Seren in his tracks for a moment.
Seren trying to control the position but instead, Collins has worked for underhooks and has pushed Seren into the cage.
Collins is leaning against Seren and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Seren managing to block the knees to the body from Collins.

Collins pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Collins looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Seren tries to close the distance and clinch but Collins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Seren misses with the body kick

and Collins counters by clinching up.

Collins decides to pull guard.
Seren is looking to stand up but Collins won't let him.
Seren trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Collins trying to strike off his back.
Seren wants to stand but Collins is controlling his posture from full guard.
Collins throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Collins is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Collins trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Collins throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Seren tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Collins counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Collins.
Seren stalling the fight.
Seren has Collins pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Collins manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Collins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Seren smiles and moves away.

Collins has managed to clinch.
Collins landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Collins misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Seren.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Seren wants to break free but Collins has control.
Seren prevents Collins from breaking the clinch.

Collins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Collins is looking to clinch.
Seren takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Collins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Seren misses with a takedown
and Collins counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Collins tries to clinch up but Seren circles away and keeps his distance.
Seren looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cadogan Seren. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Seren tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Collins holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Collins lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Seren is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Collins is keeping busy.
Collins wants a takedown but no success here.

Collins gets control of Seren's arms and successfully pulls guard. Collins will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Collins is trying to keep Seren in close.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robbie Collins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Seren looks to throw the jab but Collins is out of range.
Seren throws a lazy body kick

and Collins holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Collins should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Collins has had enough of the clinch but Seren keeps him there for the moment.

Collins manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Collins has his hands on Seren's head, controlling the position.
Seren landing some decent shots from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Seren gets to his feet - Collins follows without any prompting.
Collins fails with an attempt to clinch.

Seren moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Collins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Collins misses with a body shot.
Seren shoots in for a takedown but Collins shows good takedown defense.
Seren fails with a takedown attempt.
Collins jabs at Seren's body.
Collins is looking to clinch but Seren is avoiding it.
Seren throws a big shot that misses.
Seren takes one to the chin there.

Seren misses with a combination
and Collins counters with an inside leg kick.
Seren thuds a left hand into Collins's body.
Seren throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Collins counters with a single leg into guard. Seren didn't expect that.
Seren wants to get back to his feet but Collins is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Collins trying to control but Seren is working from the bottom.
Seren wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Collins manages to pass to side control.
Collins moves into full mount! Seren won't be happy about that!

Collins tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Collins goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Seren turns into him and now he's in Collins's guard.
Seren stays in close to Collins's body and controls the position.
Seren lands a couple of decent looking shots.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Seren scoring with some ground and pound.
Cadogan Seren overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Seren's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Seren stands and throws Collins's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Seren connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Collins some visible discomfort.
Collins is trying to improve his position.
Seren landing strikes.
Seren is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Collins's shoulder. That is not cool.

And that's the end of the fight!
Robbie Collins comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Collins has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
