PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Emilio Beasley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Tellman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donnie Tellman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Emilio Beasley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donnie Tellman!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tellman tries to sprawl but Beasley drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tellman can do anything to dispel that myth.
Well, if Beasley is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Beasley is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Beasley trying to control the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tellman wants to get back to his feet.

Tellman wants to get back to full guard but Beasley has passed into side control.

Beasley working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Beasley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tellman is trying to escape the position but Beasley is controlling the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tellman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Beasley wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Tellman is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Beasley is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Tellman tries to reverse the position but Beasley maintains control.
Beasley fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Beasley lands with some strikes.
Beasley content just to control the position here.
Beasley seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tellman for as long as he can get away with.

Beasley is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Tellman to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Tellman shrugs it off.

Beasley looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Beasley manages to capitalize on a mistake by Tellman to take his back!

Beasley continues to stall.

Tellman is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Beasley gets his way!
Beasley is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tellman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Beasley was well out of range. Poor timing from Tellman.
Beasley drops down looking for a counter takedown but Tellman sprawls and moves away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Beasley.

Tellman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Beasley is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tellman can do to turn this around?
Beasley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Beasley is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Tellman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beasley is working away from the top position though.
Still in half guard, Beasley seems content to control.
Tellman is trying to get back to full guard.

Tellman is defending against the submission attempts here by Beasley.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tellman flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Beasley slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

No joy there for Tellman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Beasley looks for a takedown but Tellman sprawls well.

Tellman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Beasley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Tellman wants to get up but he can't break Beasley's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Beasley is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Tellman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Beasley is on top in guard.

Tellman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Beasley controls the pace.
Beasley won't allow Tellman to sweep him here.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
More hug and hope from Beasley.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Emilio Beasley will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Beasley is looking to clinch but Tellman is avoiding it.

Tellman shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Tellman is working for a submission of some sort.

Beasley pushes Tellman off and gets back to his feet.

Beasley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tellman to the mat! Tellman manages to get full guard.
Tellman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beasley is controlling him.
Beasley controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Beasley trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tellman's guard.
Beasley controlling from the top position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Beasley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tellman tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Tellman clinches with his opponent.
Beasley tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Tellman has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Beasley clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Beasley is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.

Tellman gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Tellman is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Beasley goes for a takedown in the clinch but Tellman prevents it.

Tellman works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Beasley doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Tellman is looking to stand up but Beasley won't let him.
Beasley looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tellman is one step ahead there.
Beasley scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Beasley lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Beasley is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Emilio Beasley showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Beasley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
