Griffin's entrance music is Im Shipping Up To Boston. A fine choice. Fontana has chosen Classic Girl as his entrance music. Forrest Griffin had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Forrest Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Fontana!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fontana misses with a two punch combination.

Fontana rushes Griffin and presses him up against the cage.
Griffin tries to throw a body punch but Fontana avoids it by throwing Griffin back against the cage.
Griffin managing to block the knees to the body from Fontana.
Griffin prevents the takedown attempt.
Fontana gets underhooks to prevent Griffin's takedown attempt.
Griffin blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Fontana tries to stall but Griffin uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Fontana gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffin keeping moving, preventing Fontana from controlling successfully.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Fontana's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Fontana trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Griffin is trying to keep Fontana in close.
Fontana won't allow Griffin to sweep him here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Griffin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fontana's guard.
Griffin wants to control from the top but Fontana keeps moving.

Fontana has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Griffin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fontana wants to get back to his feet but Griffin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Griffin is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Griffin stays in close to Fontana's body and controls the position.
Griffin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fontana looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Griffin tries to free his leg and advance position but Fontana is retaining full guard.
Griffin trying to control the position from guard on top but Fontana is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fontana swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fontana throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Fontana keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Fontana misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Griffin throws a head kick that misses
and Fontana counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A head kick misses from Fontana.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Griffin closes the distance and clinches.

Fontana lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Fontana tries to pass to full mount but Griffin defends it.
Fontana tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Griffin is looking to improve his position.
Griffin is working hard here to advance position.
Griffin has his hands clasped together around Fontana's back. He's all about the action.
Still in half guard, Fontana seems content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Griffin trying to control here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Griffin fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Fontana fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Fontana misses with a head kick.
Griffin keeps the fight on the outside.
Griffin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fontana tries to close the distance and clinch up but Griffin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Fontana is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jack Fontana will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Griffin drops Fontana with a beautiful combination! Fontana stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Griffin is looking for the KO!


Fontana is rocked!


It looks like Jack Fontana has been cut.
Griffin lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Fontana crumples to the floor! Griffin milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Forrest Griffin!
