PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Vos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manuel Rios (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Manuel Rios was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Manuel Rios!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rios throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Vos is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rios.
Manuel Rios seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vos shoots in but no luck this time.
A telegraphed right hand from Vos misses the target.

Vos is looking to counter punch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

so Vos counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vos is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Rios really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rios's head.
Vos is thwarting Rios's attempts to control the position.
Vos tries to pass to full mount but Rios defends it.

Rios tries to get to full guard but Vos has control of the leg.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Vos is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rios can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Vos postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rios looks a forlorn figure.
Rios is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Vos swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rios is now in Vos's guard. A big mistake from Vos there, giving up the dominant position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Vos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Vos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rios is trying to control Vos's posture but Vos avoids it.
Vos wants to control but Rios is keeping him busy.

Rios wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Vos has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Rios's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Rios is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Vos!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Tom Vos!
A less than humble Tom Vos misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
