Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oleg Ljashko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maki Pulu!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Pulu with that takedown attempt.
A left and a right from Ljashko both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Maki Pulu has been cut.
Pulu shoots in but no luck this time.
Ljashko throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pulu sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pulu is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Ljashko closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Ljashko clinches with his opponent.

Ljashko manages to break the clinch.

Pulu bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pulu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ljashko keeps working.

Pulu looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Pulu is trying to get an arm triangle but Ljashko is defending well.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Ljashko is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

You can see the frustration on Ljashko's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ljashko is looking to reverse the position.
Ljashko is trying to control Pulu's posture but Pulu avoids it.

Pulu thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ljashko wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Ljashko is trying to get back to half guard.
Ljashko wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pulu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ljashko knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ljashko is not content to let Pulu control the position.
Ljashko tries to buck Pulu off but Pulu is having none of it.

Ljashko throws Pulu to one side and escapes!
Pulu lands the left hand.
Ljashko misses with a shot to the body
and Pulu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ljashko fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pulu walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Pulu tries a head kick but it misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ljashko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pulu connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ljashko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pulu paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ljashko misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ljashko tries to clinch but Pulu moves out of range.
Ljashko avoids the head kick by Pulu.
Pulu shoots in looking for a takedown but Ljashko manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pulu's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ljashko looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Oleg Ljashko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maki Pulu.
Ljashko uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pulu.
Pulu lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Pulu misses the shot to the body.
Pulu lands a two punch combo.
Pulu scores with a shot to the body.
Pulu lands a big head kick that sends Ljashko to the canvas! Pulu follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Maki Pulu!
After winning the bout, Maki Pulu thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
