Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ira Vance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ira Vance has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ira Vance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matthew Do!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Do tries a head kick but it misses.
Matthew Do seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vance throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Do decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vance's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vance looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Vance wants to get back to his feet but Do is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Vance working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Do doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Do manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Do passes into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vance wants to get back to his feet.
Vance is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Do scores with a couple of nice shots.
Vance looks like he's trying to stand up.

Do is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Do is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vance defends it well.
Vance is trying to stand back up but Do is controlling him
Do thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vance's head.
Vance is looking for a sweep. Do is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Do has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Do postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Vance to stand up.
Do lands a body shot.
Do changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vance tries to avoid it but Do manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vance to the ground. Vance escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Do shoots in for a takedown but Vance shows good takedown defense.

No luck for Vance with that takedown attempt.
Do misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vance ducks right into an uppercut from Do.
Do throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Do instigates a clinch.
Do leaning against his opponent.

Do pulls guard successfully.
Do is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Let's hope that Do has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Do seems to be working for a kimura but Vance defends the submission attempt.

Do decides to stand up.
Vance doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Do counters by clinching up.
A frustrated look appears on Do's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Vance is trying to pull guard but Do turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ira Vance. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Do decides to pull guard.

Do has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vance can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Do lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Vance has an active guard here but Do has managed to pass into half guard.
Do works his foot free and advances to mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Do fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vance, pushing him back against the cage.

Do looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Do works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Vance knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Do on the ground.

Matthew Do comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Do has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
