PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Shears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Sackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shears comes to the cage accompanied by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Sackett is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Smack My BitchUp. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sackett closes the distance and clinches.
Shears blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Sackett landing knees to the head.
Shears is working for takedown but Sackett is calmly controlling the position for now.

Sackett using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Shears has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Sackett tries to land knees in the clinch but Shears avoids the damage to the body.

Shears uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sackett.
Sackett throws a shot from downtown. Shears moves away and avoids it.

Shears is nestled in close to Sackett, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Shears is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sackett can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Shears goes for an armbar but Sackett turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Sackett.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shears is on top in guard.
Sackett is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Shears has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sackett makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

and Sackett counters with a three punch combo that has Shears backing up. Shears nods at Sackett to acknowledge the strikes.

Shears is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sackett gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Still in the clinch, Sackett scores with a nice short uppercut.

Shears pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sackett bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shears's head backwards.

The fight stays on the outside here - Sackett looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sackett tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shears swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Shears feints and as Sackett raises his hands in defense, Shears changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sackett is looking to stand up but Shears isn't so interested in that idea.

Shears is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Shears looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sackett with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
