Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Franks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Altintop Palonesess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Franks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Altintop Palonesess!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Topper Green and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franks leaves Palonesess with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Franks throws a combination. Palonesess tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Altintop Palonesess has been cut.
A bone on bone clash there as Palonesess blocks the leg kick.
Palonesess cracks the inside of Franks's front leg.
Palonesess fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Franks checks it well.
Palonesess is looking to clinch.
Franks keeps the fight on the outside.

Franks gets in close and instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palonesess throws a knee to the head but misses.
Palonesess with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Palonesess wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Franks has him pressed against the cage.

Franks definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Palonesess's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Palonesess tries to score a power double leg takedown but Franks sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Palonesess somewhat.
Franks seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Palonesess has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Franks has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Palonesess avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Palonesess throws an elbow that misses. Franks uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Palonesess's guard. Nice move by Franks!


Franks stands up and waves to Palonesess to follow him.
Franks throws a series of strikes that have Palonesess backpedaling.
Palonesess tries to close the distance and clinch but Franks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Franks shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Palonesess pinned against the cage. Palonesess gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Franks closes the distance and clinches.
Palonesess misses with a knee to the head.

Franks breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Franks counters with a nice uppercut.
Franks shoots in but no luck this time.

Palonesess gets caught napping as Franks dives in and scores a takedown. Palonesess manages to retain guard.

Palonesess is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Franks presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Palonesess prevents a takedown attempt there.
Franks throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Palonesesss head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Franks shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Palonesess sprawls well. Palonesess wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Franks gets slowly back to his feet.

Palonesess throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Franks's waist but Franks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Palonesess off to one side.

Franks has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Palonesess uses from the top position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jon Franks will probably get the nod.
