Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Israel Hand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antero Vipunen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Israel Hand has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Israel Hand!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Antero Vipunen!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hand manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Vipunen on his heels. He'll look to pass Vipunen's guard now, I'm sure.
Hand showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Vipunen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hand. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hand throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hand has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Hand trying to control the position from guard on top but Vipunen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hand slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vipunen wants to stand and escape but Hand is having none of it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Hand postures up and lands a big shot to Vipunen's brow.
Hand keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Vipunen's head.

Hand avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Vipunen wants to stand and escape but Hand is having none of it.
Vipunen controls Hand momentarily but Hand frees himself.
Hand has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hand shoots in looking for a takedown but Vipunen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hand's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Vipunen throws a one two combo.
Vipunen throws out a leg kick but Hand moves out of range and Vipunen only half commits.
Vipunen throws a hook to the side of Hand's head but Hand sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hand changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Vipunen walks into a straight right hand from Hand.
Hand swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vipunen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hand.
Vipunen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vipunen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hand moves away.
Vipunen misses with an uppercut. Hand saw that one coming.
Hand goes for a double leg but Vipunen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Vipunen continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Israel Hand. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vipunen misses the shot to the body.
Hand half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Vipunen wants to land a leg kick but Hand is out of range.
Hand changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Hand ducks under a wild hook from Vipunen.
Vipunen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Vipunen looks to score with a jab to the body but Hand is just out of range.
Hand attempts a counter takedown but Vipunen avoids it well and moves away.
Hand looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vipunen is fending him off so far but Hand persists. Nope, Vipunen circles away and we're back to standing.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Vipunen lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Hand.
Hand lands a left hand that snaps the head of Vipunen backwards.
Hand lands a nice shot to the body.
Vipunen misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hand blocks an uppercut.
Vipunen misses with some punches.
Vipunen scores with a nice hook to the head.
A short right from Hand on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Antero Vipunen will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hand, right into the meat.


It looks like Antero Vipunen has been cut.
Vipunen connects with a single shot there.
Antero Vipunen seems to be getting the better of the standup.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hand is defended easily by Vipunen.
Antero Vipunen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vipunen wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Hand manages to pass to side control.

Hand takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Hand looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vipunen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Well, if Hand is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vipunen cracks Hand with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Hand misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hand throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Vipunen misses with a wild body shot.
Hand attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

and Hand counters with a nice uppercut.
Hand looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vipunen throws a push kick but Hand slaps the foot to one side.
Hand drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vipunen sprawls and moves away.
Hand uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Vipunen tests Hand's chin there with a solid looking shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Israel Hand dominated that second round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Hand fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vipunen avoids it really well and circles away.
Hand keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Vipunen is looking to clinch but Hand is avoiding it.
Hand lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Vipunen, as that shot connected.
Vipunen throws a push kick but Hand slaps the foot to one side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vipunen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hand.
Hand ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vipunen moves away.
Vipunen let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Jab, jab by Vipunen - just one landing.
Vipunen moves out of range of the strikes.

Hand lands with a good body shot.
Vipunen avoids the body shot from Hand.
A countering left hand to the body from Vipunen misses.
Vipunen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hand throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A combination from Vipunen does no damage.
Vipunen throws a leg kick

and Hand counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vipunen won't be happy with that.
You can see the frustration on Vipunen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vipunen can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee asks Hand politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hand prefers to stall for the moment though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vipunen pushes Hand away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hand gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Hand cracks Vipunen with a big elbow.
Hand scores with a couple of short elbows.
Hand is staying tight to Vipunen's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Hand lands some shots froms side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hand lands a decent elbow from side control.
Vipunen takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.


That has opened up Antero Vipunen's cut even more.
Hand takes a little break here. Vipunen wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Vipunen is trying to get back to half guard.

Vipunen is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Hand looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hand in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Vipunen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hand is controlling him well.
Antero Vipunen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hand cracks Vipunen with a big elbow.


The cut above Antero Vipunen's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Hand prevents Vipunen from escaping the position.
Hand cracks Vipunen with a big right hand but Vipunen just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Hand grinds an elbow into Vipunen's temple.
Hand remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Vipunen wants to get back to his feet but Hand drags him back down.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Antero Vipunen's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Antero Vipunen's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Israel Hand!
After winning the bout, Israel Hand thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
