Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Meechum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Carballo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carballo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Meechum has one foot on Carballo's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Carballo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Meechum's guard.

Carballo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Carballo stays in close to Meechum's body and controls the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carballo passes Meechum's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Meechum trying to hold on to Carballo's head to control him but Carballo postures up.

Carballo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Meechum does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Carballo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meechum defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Carballo.
Carballo wants to control the pace but Meechum is squirming around nicely.

Carballo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Carballo seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Meechum is holding on tight.

Carballo looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Carballo has control of Meechum's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Meechum regains control of the situation pretty easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carballo trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Carballo has hold of Meechum's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Meechum manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Carballo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Meechum has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Carballo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Meechum can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
